Discussion
1. Westside Greens (WG) discussed planning for future projects. WG will set goals and set aside meeting time to address the following:
a) Developing a non-violent platform, including statement of non violence and non violent solutions to political and social ills.
b) Selecting, promoting, and electing Green Candidates to office, in particular national office, with an eye toward putting greater emphasis on the judicial functions of government.
c) Examining issues of human right and civil rights, developing specific responses to local problems and presenting those solutions to local officials.
d) Raising progressive voter turnout and impact by promoting election protection strategies, motivating increased registration, working toward paper ballots, and collaborating with other groups to ensure integrity in the electoral process.
e) Building the Green Party, including grooming strong candidates, raising the Green Party profile, increasing the number of registered Green voters, and improving the visibility of Green Party candidates during election cycles.
f) Building a Progressive Media—increasing the support for current independent media, developing a local Green Party publication, and identifying funding resources for independent and progressive media.
2. WG discussed strategies for building membership for our next meeting, including inviting a special guest, updating the advertisement that runs in ChangeLinks, and advertising in other publications or community calendars.
